Yahia Abuhasan

[email protected]
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University, Yahia Abuhasan is a public health researcher pursuing a career in dentistry rooted in the social and biological foundations of oral health. Yahia's research bridges the laboratory and the underserved community, spanning an intranasal GDNF gene therapy for opioid relapse at the Tufts Pothos Lab, the immunopharmacology of MRGPRX2 at the University of Pennsylvania and the links between temporomandibular disorders, obstructive sleep apnea and psychosocial health. His work has been presented at the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting and the NIH HEAL initiative and published in the Journal of Molecular Psychiatry. As Co-President of Envision Difference, he turns that research into care that addresses both the oral and mental health of people too often overlooked. Outside of his clinical and academic work, Yahia finds his balance on the basketball court, in the craft of cooking and in writing children's books.
